I’m writing from Milan, Italy…the fashion capital of the world! Sandra has some friends here, so we decided to take a slight detour and come visit.

It has been a wonderful time thus far. We spent five days in Paris getting over jet-lag and visiting a few places like the Louvre, Eiffel Tower, Sacre Coeur, etc. Then, we took the night train down to Nice (on the Southern French Mediterranean coastline) and spent the day exploring the varied streets and lookouts. Finally, it was time to board the night train to Rome, Italy.

In Rome, we spent the first day visiting the Vatican and a number of obelisks and fountains around the city. The next day, we visited the Sistine Chapel and the Roman ruins (including the Colosseum).

Then we were off to Cinque Terre which is a group of five villages tucked in and on the cliff sides and coves of northwestern Italy’s coast. We had a blast exploring the villages (staying in Manarola the first night and Corniglia the next two), hiking the trails between them and finally spending all day on the beach in Monterosso.

Today, we took the train to Milan and have had a great time visiting with Sandra’s friends here.

On Saturday we’re off to Venice, then Florence, then the night train to Bern, Switzerland.
