Yep, it’s that time again…get excited for the Yichang International Tourism Parade!
The 2008 Beijing Olympic Mascots were in attendance along with the Yangtze Sturgeons.
Schäfer had a great time meeting a “Friendlies”.
This man was enjoying taking pictures of Schäfer on his camera phone. Schäfer was as popular as the floats!
These guys whooped like stereotypical native-american’s. It was actually a pretty confusing float. But the fire-spitters were entertaining.
Here’s a boyy in a traditional Chinese kid’s outfit, usually reserved for festivities. The character on the front is “blessing”. The dot in-between the brow is often given to children. We’re not sure why…yet!
Circus clowns came from France.
We really have no clue what this group of people were representing. First, there are the ladies with the beautiful umbrellas. The men behind them are dressed in ropes and cloths.
Then, the next row of people were ummm….disco dancers or flight attendants from the 70’s?
Behind the flight attendants were a group of …double ummm…..these we think are supposed to be workers. But the black leather suspenders looked a bit…unusual.
These dancers from the Cook Islands entertained the local media.
hilarious the guy taking S’s picture with his camera phone while the parade goes on! the “disco dancers”?? made me laugh, too! it’s all so colorful–i’m sure S loved it!
Let us know if you find out anything interesting about the meaning! The parade looks like fun!
