An Update With No Update

I realize it has been a while since we’ve written anything about the adoption of little sister. Our lack of posting is not a reflection to the void our family feels. It is a reflection of nothing to update. There is no news.

Things are slow.

Things are moving.

Things are slowly moving.

In Greek, kronos describes “chronological time.”  When is someone going to pick our file? When will we get a match? When can we go get her?

But the Greeks also had another word: kairos. This describes “meaningful time.” Lately, I’ve been trying to live in meaningful time.

When Schäfer plays with his buddy, Chen Yu, I like to reach over and feel her smooth skin.

Hearing Chen Yu’s laugh and seeing her difference in temperament reminds me that each child is a unique creation.

Inside our closet, I keep a small stash of PINK items. Oh, I hope she likes hats!

And so I wonder how I can more fully live these days in meaningful time – to soak life in and trust that she will be with us.

Let us not miss kairos because of all the kronos unknowns.

  • Wow. Such a neat post. Though things feel slow, I’m sure He is very very busy preparing for your precious family addition.

As always your thoughtful expressions resonate in my own life. I need to absorb the kairos and be present in the kronos and trust that all will come to be. Little Sister is out there. She is just waiting for the right moment to walk into your lives. Thank you for sharing your life journeys with me. I miss our kairos.
