• The night before the big century ride. The coyotes have started howling at the moon. :)
  • Pride and reliance on self will kill us all. We need to be in relationship with community to grow beyond ourselves.
  • I appreciate North Idahoan mosquitoes because they're satisfyingly large and loud, enabling me to track their flight before I squish them.
  • I find myself randomly drinking deep from the faucet. Seriously, do you know how awesome it is to have clean water?!
  • Midnight in Idaho. Back at the childhood cabin. The moon is out. The stars are strewn across the cool night sky like many diamonds. Wha ...

The Longest Drive

In short, today we drove from Arkansas to Louisiana saying goodbye to too many people along the way.

Our time at the wilderness retreat passed all too quickly.

Papaw gave Schäfer a neat-o phonics pea-nano for Christmas.

Since we were making good time on the way to the airport, we stopped at Cracker Barrel for lunch. When the waitress walked up and asked for our order, Schäfer proclaimed, “Macaroni and cheese!”

And that’s just what he got.

Schäfer was ready to drive out of the Cracker Barrel. Uh…don’t think that will fit in our suitcase Schäf.

After dropping my sister off at the airport, we headed south to my Aunt Joy’s to return the genealogy documents we scanned while in the wilderness.

Schäfer loves his Uncle Dennis! We’re always sad that we can’t stay longer.

Once home, Hubs was delighted to find that his Amazon Kindle had arrived. (more to come on this amazing gadget)

But the night was still young! Fortunately for us, David and Sandy were in town for Laura’s shower. Though we missed the shower, we were so thankful we were still able to see everyone. This was one of those occasions were it was just impossible to catch up on four years of life in two hours, but we sure did try.

Laura you look so beautiful! I am so sad that I missed your shower. But I am so thankful I was able to see you!

Finally, we were off to Louisiana. Yet, there we were with that same dilemma:

Drive at night with Hubs slapping his leg to stay awake

OR

get up at 4am to drive at 5am.

We once again opted for the slapping of the leg arriving in Funroe at midnight only to stay up until 1am talking with Time.
