While Papaw was busy, we headed off to the Neighbor’s Mill Bakery and Cafe. Yum.

We had no expectations. We’d never even heard of the place before. We just decided that was local and worth a try.
Nobody was disappointed.
I had the Classic Reuben “thinly shaved Ozark Mountain Corned Beef with Sauerkraut, Swiss cheese &1000 Island, on our Pumpernickel Rye (Mike’s favorite!)
Hubs had the Honey Pecan Chicken Salad.
Sister had a bread bowl and I can’t remember what soup was inside, but it was incredible.

Schäfer had a grilled cheese dipped in tomato soup – because dipping is a high priority.

Isn’t this just the cutest idea for pumpkin muffins with cream cheese?
Thank you Neighbor’s Mill for existing. You made the drive from the wilderness worth it!
Next stop: Hallmark where sister got Schäfer’s ornament (she’s started a collection of 1 ornament per year for him). Despite the fact that we said we’d be 15 minutes, I think we were more like 45. Hubs and Schäfer slept in the car.
Then, on to the Wal-Mart one hour photo center for Papaw’s Christmas card photos.
Final stop: the wilderness retreat just in time to throw a turkey in the oven, bake an apple crisp, and watch some Dave Ramsey.

Yum–this all looks great! I’ve never stopped there, but I think my parents go there sometimes.
