So Long Huckleberry Mountain

Today was our last day on Huckleberry Mountain.

This morning, Hubs took my letters to the post office and visited Great Aunt Jewel for one last genealogy hurray.  Aunt Jewel has a special gift for remembering names, dates, times, places. She can seriously look at a baby picture and tell us who it is three generations back.

Meanwhile, Schäfer got in his “boat” and “went fishing.”

About 2 o’clock we loaded the car and headed to the hotel. Since our original flight was at 9:30am, we decided to stay in a hotel the night before.  Our flight was changed to 3:30pm, but we decided to go ahead and move to the hotel close to the airport.

Aunt Katrina, who was already in Spokane for work, met us at the airport with her van loaded down. She and Hubs took each of our bags in and weighed them. Only one out of six was overweight. Not bad! We did a little adjusting with our carry ons and I think we’re all set.

OK – I know they’re serious about this 50lb. weight limit, but I do remember a time when I checked in a bag that weighed 99lbs. and I did not get charged for excess weight! Oh, the good ol’ days.

That evening, we met up with Grandpa and Ms. Nancy at the Rustic Moose.

Our last meal in America was scrumptious. Hubs had the meatloaf and I had the buffalo burger. Yum. Schäfer had a little bit of everything.

Once Schäfer was down to sleep we packed and repacked our carry on luggage. I can’t believe I made it through the entire day on 2 hours of sleep. I love adrenaline.
