Hooray the Apothecary!

After day 4 of Theraflu, I asked Hubs to get me something a little more serious.

I don’t think I’ve been on an antibiotic since 7th grade, but the pain in my sinuses is intense.

After e-mailing a doctor, it was recommended that we try:

Azithromycin which is 500mg once on day one followed by 250mg a day for the next 4 days

OR

Amoxicillin would be 500mg three times a day for 10-14 days.

With that, Hubs looked up the Chinese translations and headed to the local pharmacy 100 feet from our house.

I was rooting for Azithromycin because it would nip everything in the bud in just 4 days. Antibiotics for 14 days just feels like such a commitment!

Believe it or not, they had both in stock.

For 10rmb – that’s just $1.47 I had exactly what I needed. No visit to the doctor. No prescription required.

Gotta love the local pharmacy. One of the few places in China where there’s no red tape necessary.

  • OOOOOO! Girl you got the good stuff! That is what I used in December and it does the trick for those sinus issues!! I feel your pain!

  • That is definitely a perk!! That was one thing that I was shocked about while I was over there. How easy it is to get that kind of stuff. Plus it is SOOO much cheaper. Glad you could go with the quicker antibiotic. Hope you are feeling better soon!

    Sandra!!!

I finally found you! I stumbled onto your blog from someone else’s. I’m so excited! It’s been way too long, and I’ve had a great time reading about your family. I have a little blonde boy, too!

Feel free to e-mail if you want to catch up. I hope the antibiotics do the trick for you….

    Sandra,
I’m so sorry to hear about Shorel getting the bug just before you left, and then you being sick too! UGH! I hope the antibiotics do the trick and that you’ll be feeling better soon. The only thing worse than having a sick husband or sick kids is being sick yourself, because who’s going to take care of you?! Just kidding, it sounds like Shorel is doing a great job.

    Any news on a helper?

    Hang in there sister,
    Rachel
