Happy International Woman’s Day!
I’ve received several gifts:
- Schäfer got out of bed 6 times last night proclaiming, “I want to snuggle.” And 6 times Hubs helped him back to bed.
- I got to sleep until 8am this morning! I was awake at 7am, but I got to lay in silence until 8am.
- Yes, I did enjoy some dark chocolate.
We had a wonderful time of singing this morning followed by an easy lunch. Yes, lunch was followed by cheesecake. Oh the joys of making our own cheese!
This afternoon, Hubs and Schäfer headed over to a friends house while I ran to the fabric market. I was on a mission. I knew exactly what I needed and all I had to do was find some fabric.
Though there were plenty of options, nothing matched our cream bedspread.

I finally decided on a new fabric for Schäfer’s room, but our sweet vendor flat out refused to sell it to me because it had “benzene” in it.
Now, I did not know the Chinese word for benzene. (I wonder what chapter in my textbook would have benzene in the word bank?) She wrote the character down and I looked it up later.
She kept saying over and over that the fabric would not be good for Schäfer’s skin so I decided to come back another time.
Fabric shopping: 0 for 2
Finally, I joined Hubs and Schäfer for the most wonderful dumplings at a friend’s house. It was a joy to be with them. On our walk home, I was thinking about how so much has changed since we first met.

Fabric shopping may be 0 for 2, but it’s not in vain. Language learning is 2 for 2. Keep pressing on!
That Benzene stuff sounds a little scary! yikes! Cool looking fabric store!
Happy Woman’s Day!!
why would they make fabric with something that’s highly toxic? I don’t get it! haha!
And Happy Women’s Day to you, too, Sandra!
It came and went without my noticing . . . but that’s ok. I’m so impressed with your cheesemaking skills that have now allowed you to make real cheesecake!! WOW! Did you use your yogurt cheese, or did you have to do something more complicated? I’m sure it was wonderful!
Maybe I’ll declare tomorrow Woman’s Day at the Winds. Does that mean I get the day off?
Love,
Rachel
