Yu Jie Jie’s Mom has gone back to work at the wish of the Grandparents. Since there is no social security, children often work to support two sets of parents. With Mom back at work, Yu Jie Jie is now at her Grandma’s in a different apartment building complex. Schäfer keeps knocking on her door to see if she can come out and play.

Mi Le will leave us in a month. He and his Mom have been living with her parents. Now they will return to the city where they have their own apartment.

We’re also thankful that we’ve had this season together. Ting was definitely influential to getting me accepted into the neighborhood. I guess she lives in a larger city so she’s exposed to more…or maybe it’s that she’s progressive. She runs her own on-line business which eventually lead to her opening a small boutique in Yichang.

She even has her own oven and bakes.

She has a sewing machine too.

And she knits.

Oh my word.

All of these changes come at no surprise. The closing of so much is the opening of something else. Knowing what that something else is would be comforting, but as usual is unavailable.

I find myself taking in a lot of moments. Soaking in the laughter. Four Mom’s. Four babies.

All problems discussed and solutions found at The Lotus Pond.
