For the past 4 years, I’ve survived off of 16 cookie cutters.
I was just fine.
I didn’t know any different.
I’m a survivor.
When we were in the states, I found this barrel of goodness at Michael’s Craft Store for $9.95:
1. Yep. $9.95!
2. I had a 50% off coupon for one item at full price.
3. I had a gift card for my birthday.
discount + gift card = free!
Free is one of my favorite things.
Want to see what is to be found in this barrel of goodness? OK!

In the midst of not being able to solve our adoption transition, I’ve been working on projects that I can start and complete within 30 minutes. Organizing the cookie cutters seemed like a good idea since they were spilling out of the kitchen cabinet.

I was ecstatic when I poured out all these cookie cutters to find that they were organized by color! You do not know how this delighted me so. I immediately went into the office to inform Hubs who replied, “This must have been created by a first-born.”
As you probably noticed, Hubs could barely contain his excitement therefore we maintained our harmonious marriage by continually being totally in sync. (read: cookie cutters were not amongst his priorities)

I bought this set primarily because I wanted the alphabet letters and numbers, but I was equally excited about the dinosaurs, airplane, dump truck, train, etc.

I saved the guide in case I need a quick reference.

I stored all the cookie cutters in boxes to keep off the ever invading dust.
Now, you’d think 117 cookie cutters would set me up just right, but the truth is there are two more cookie cutters that I’d love to have, but I just can’t pay $9.95 each plus shipping! (I’ve only seen these on-line.)

Yes! I love these cookie cutters! I got the same ones while in the states for 9.95 (no coupon!) They are wonderful!!! I love how you organized them straight away. I did too!
I LOVE that you got so much joy from the fact that these are color coded. I would’ve been equally excited… probably squealing like a little school girl.
When making sugar cookies, the best trick I’ve found is 1) chilling the dough 2) rolling out with LOTS of flour, using parchment paper on both sides (counter and on top of cookie dough) and 3) chilling cookie cutters. Sometimes, we even roll out the dough, stick it back in the fridge for a few minutes, and then pull it out, quickly cut out shapes and transfer them to the cookie sheet. It seems that there is a constant transferring of the dough back and forth from counter to fridge.
Whew! …I now know why sugar cookies tend to be a seasonal event. =)
I think someday I should go through my house and count how many plastic containers I have purchased over the years. I love them. For keeping dust off and for organizing. But yes – these last two cookie cutters are wonderful. Perhaps they could go on your Christmas wish list!
Sandra, you are MY kind of gal!
I *heart* Ikea organizing boxes because they stack together.
I MADE myself start making a list of all the things I "need" to use the IKEA storage boxes for, so the next time I go back, I'm loading up!
