All on a Sunday

Early Sunday morning, we headed to the farm for fresh milk, eggs, and a bundle of oranges. Normally, Hubs and Schäfer go to the farm as a father/son adventure, but today the guys invited me.

This was my first time to see the cows being hand milked. The Ayi said they hand milk the cows three times per day and use the machine the other times.

Here’s the milk machine on the left and the gathered milk on the right.

After we loaded up on milk, Schäfer and I went to see the farm animals while Hubs bought eggs.

The chickens were all inside the coup.

Farmer Wang gave us a big bag full of oranges freshly picked – meaning he clipped them off the trees while we were there.

About 4 o’clock, we were free again so we went on a family bike ride. We hoped to find a new bike seat for Schäfer.

I will miss him in front of me in the iBert. It’s so sweet when he holds my hand while we ride.

I will not miss when he slides his hand over and changes gears.

We stopped at the Giant bicycle shop to see if they had a child’s seat. Seeing this bike reminded me of my first bike: “The Rose Duster”.

Schäfer tried out one of the giant big boy bikes. He zoomed along just fine, but still doesn’t go as fast as he can on his wooden bike. I doubt we’ll be buying this particular bike for Schäfer as it was almost $100 USD!

The bike store owner was trying to explain how to ride the bicycle, when Schäfer interrupted and said, “This is a motorcycle!”

Next stop, we went down by the river to fly our kite. Yes, that’s a bird on hub’s back.

Schäfer has been asking almost daily, “When can we fly big bird?”

For the most part the wind was fine, but it died down a couple times resulting in Big Bird taking a swim in the Yangtze.

Today was a good day.
