Early Sunday morning, we headed to the farm for fresh milk, eggs, and a bundle of oranges. Normally, Hubs and Schäfer go to the farm as a father/son adventure, but today the guys invited me.

Schäfer gives the cow a hearty, “Zaoshang hao!”

This was my first time to see the cows being hand milked. The Ayi said they hand milk the cows three times per day and use the machine the other times.

Here’s the milk machine on the left and the gathered milk on the right.

After we loaded up on milk, Schäfer and I went to see the farm animals while Hubs bought eggs.

The chickens were all inside the coup.

Farmer Wang gave us a big bag full of oranges freshly picked – meaning he clipped them off the trees while we were there.
About 4 o’clock, we were free again so we went on a family bike ride. We hoped to find a new bike seat for Schäfer.

I will miss him in front of me in the iBert. It’s so sweet when he holds my hand while we ride.

I will not miss when he slides his hand over and changes gears.

We stopped at the Giant bicycle shop to see if they had a child’s seat. Seeing this bike reminded me of my first bike: “The Rose Duster”.

Schäfer tried out one of the giant big boy bikes. He zoomed along just fine, but still doesn’t go as fast as he can on his wooden bike. I doubt we’ll be buying this particular bike for Schäfer as it was almost $100 USD!

The bike store owner was trying to explain how to ride the bicycle, when Schäfer interrupted and said, “This is a motorcycle!”

Next stop, we went down by the river to fly our kite. Yes, that’s a bird on hub’s back.

Schäfer has been asking almost daily, “When can we fly big bird?”

For the most part the wind was fine, but it died down a couple times resulting in Big Bird taking a swim in the Yangtze.

I loved reading about your day! What a a treat for my Saturday morning!
Sandra, I love to read your stories about your family. You are giving your son a fabulous life. What do you and your hubs:) do there, work wise? Do you missing being in the states? How often do you get to see your family? Okay, I'll shut up now. Take care!
I’m so glad I stopped by. As always, I fell behind in reading and catching up on blogs, but I loved this post! You take the coolest pictures ever
I LOVE those of the dairy cows!
It looks like a wonderful day! I love the Thomas boots. He is so cute!
What a super fun day!
Sandra, the Dusty Rose is still in the shed waiting for a rider…Did he like the kite alphabet picture I sent? I also sent the pattern so you could tell him the names…Yum fresh oranges!!, fresh eggs, and raw milk…at least Schafer knows milk comes from a cow, eggs from a hen, and oranges from a tree. Did you know I milked a cow until I went to High School? Her name was Jersey and she gave good, rich milk…nanamaw
You do not know how much JOY it gives me knowing The Rose Duster is available for future generations! I cannot wait to come home and see it!
