It’s hard to believe that in just one month Schäfer will be 3!

We stopped by Jump Zone a few times this month because of the cold weather. Since Jump Zone is on the 5th floor of a mall, it is very warm and cozy. Thank goodness for heat rising! So cozy, in fact, that all the kids strip down to their thermals and take their socks off before playing. It’s like everyone’s playing in their pajamas!

One morning, I went to pick Schäfer up and the school was taking photos of the kids and teachers. Since half the class was running around, I’m sure this is for some type of advertisement, but I didn’t mind since other kids were in the photos too. Schäfer on the other hand did not like the sun being in his eyes and was not so interested in looking at the camera.
Preschool in November has been great. Each day, Schäfer has only had about 10-12 classmates because the rest were at home sick. That’s 10 – 12 classmates with three teachers! What an incredible ratio.
He’s picked up a bad habit from some of the little boys in his class. Schäfer now makes his hand into a gun and shoots people. I realized this was going to be a problem when a little boy was following Schäfer around at Jump Zone. Schäfer turned around, made his hand into a gun and aimed at the little boy. We’ve had several discussions about this behavior and Schäfer keeps saying, “David shot Goliath!” We’re working through it.

Schäfer loves to give “birthday presents”. This was my “birthday tower”.
These days, Schäfer’s pockets have an unlimited flow of little sticks. One time he pulled a stick out of his pocket and said, “Mommy, this is your birthday fire truck with stabilizing legs.” Someone’s been reading the Lego catalog a little too much.
Right now, Schäfer loves to be carried. Oh my. In fact, he doesn’t want to walk at all much anymore. He prefers to be carried to the bus stop, to preschool, to a store, from the bus stop to a friend’s house, etc. Oh my.
Schäfer Speak:
“I am a snail. You are the zoo keeper!”
“I want to climb you. I am a mountain goat!”
One morning, I walked out of the bedroom with my flannel robe because it was cold.
He: What’s that?
Me: It’s a robe.
He: Just like the brothers and sisters in the Bible!

Hey Sandra!! Not to worry too much with the little boys, making their hands in to guns! We just got back from Texas and little boys and their guns are very serious there!
I think this is a very natural progression for little boys versus little girls who will make their hands “talk” to each other!!
I imagine it is kind of awkward if the little foreign boy is going around shooting Chinese boys though!
In Texas one little boy with his sweet accent told Nathan, “We never shoot people, only animals because we have pretend guns and real guns and if you got mix up with which one you were holding you might accidentally shoot someone!” I thought that was pretty good advice, coming from a 9 year old. Although I don’t know how much Nathan listened to his wisdom!
Blessings to you all!!:)
Thanks so much Sarah for this piece of mind! Today our helper played guns with him and she taught him how to say, “Stop. Don’t move! Put your hands up!” Hilarious. She doesn’t seemed to be bothered at all by his gun play.
