The House of the Mouse: Family Pics

02.05.2010

We agreed last night to tell Schäfer that we were going to Disneyland in the morning. We wanted to wait because I wanted to capture it on video and because I didn’t want a high energy moment just before bedtime. When we woke up this morning, Hubs said he wanted to tell Schäfer on the subway ride. I don’t know how, but we were on a normal subway line when Schäfer said, “Are we going to Disneyland?” He was SO excited.

In honor of the Year of the Tiger, Tigger was in the main pavilion.

Today was a little more crowded than when we first visited the park in September. Who minds standing in line where there’s unlimited stickers while you’re waiting?

The sky looked like it might rain, but it never did. Torrents of rain dare not enter the realm of the House of the Mouse.

During this Disneyland experience, Hubs and Schäfer enjoyed all the rides while Sianna and I took it easy. Going the second time was neat because we could skip all the things we knew Schäfer would not like: Winnie the Pooh, Mickey’s Philharmonic, The Golden Mickey’s, etc.

Schäfer said he was ready for the Buzz Lightyear ride, but he was not. Hubs and he rode it, but Hubs spent most of the time convincing Schäfer not to jump out midway.

Schäfer has long been wanting to meet Donald Duck. All of the characters had on traditional Chinese dress in honor of the New Year.

Schäfer saw Mickey “pop” his foot, so he did it too.

Everyone loves a little “nose nose”.

This was Schäfer’s first time to meet Daisy Duck.

Do you want to know who loved Daisey Duck? Sianna! Yep. She even allowed Daisy to touch her.

We were much better prepared for the park this second time around. We borrowed an old umbrella stroller for the day and loaded it down with food and the diaper bag.

I really enjoyed this type of umbrella stroller because Schäfer could pop in and out as he wanted. Our umbrella stroller has a bar across the front… I might just have Hubs cut that off.

This was Schäfer’s first time to ride on the Mad Hatter Teacups. He loved it.

Schäfer and Raffe dwarf.

Love this phase.

Schäfer’s favorite rides were still Dumbo the Flying Elephant and Cinderella’s Carousel. Today, I think he also enjoyed It’s a Small World, Autopia and the Mad Hatter Teacups.

His least favorite were: Buzz Lightyear ride and the The Lion King and Stitch shows.

Hubs is so strong!

Schäfer had a big snack belly while he watched the parade.

When the guys went to ride Dumbo again, Sianna and I took photos with the characters she hadn’t met yet. She liked Winnie the Pooh, but not nearly as much as Daisy Duck.

Sianna had a great time at Disneyland. Actually, Disneyland is very compatible for wee ones. Hello – visit the baby station! They have changing tables, rockers, high chairs, microwave, bottle warmers, hot and cold water for bottle making, baby food, etc. It was like a Mommy Spa in that place!

Upon entering, an assistant escorts you through all your needs and offers assistance. When I was making Sianna’s bottle (while holding Sianna) the assistant was so helpful. Normally, people suggest, “Let me hold the baby so you can do that quickly.” However, this assistant asked, “How much water? How hot? Can I throw away the dirty diaper?” etc. She worked in such a way that didn’t interrupt the mother/child bond.

Sianna stayed on me the entire day. She slept in the Ergo during nap times. She wrapped herself around on my hip when she wanted to wiggle. We sat on benches. People watched. Drank formula. Watched her big brother run around. Smiled a lot.

This was our first time to stay for the fireworks.

Just before the fireworks, we wanted to see the interactive Stitch show as we’d heard it was good. Before we even got seated Schäfer said he didn’t want to see the show. As soon as it started, he wanted out. It was dark and loud. Hubs tried to watch the show while standing in the back, but Schäfer wanted out. He got so worked up about this, he threw up all over himself and Hubs.

Unfortunately, the only clothing I packed was an extra shirt because last time we were at Disneyland Schäfer got Popsicle all over his shirt. So, we took his shirt off, put him in the umbrella stroller and wrapped Sianna’s blanket around him. Hubs walked around in his rather unpleasant smelling undershirt. All was just fine until we were exiting the park and he saw a fire truck that he just had to play with.

We are THAT family.
