Turning in our Passports

03.08.10

This morning Hubs went to the China visa office to turn in our passports. We were all going to go, but the while we were on the subway, I volunteered to take the kids to the Snoopy’s World while Hubs ran to turn the passports in. I took it as a personal challenge to manage two kids by myself at a place I’d never been to before.

Besides, “managing two kids by myself in a place I’ve never been to before” is becoming the new normal. Might as well embrace change.

Snoopy’s World is a free park just outside of Citylink Plaza in Sha Tin.

Unfortunately, it was raining in that part of Hong Kong so the playground was closed, but that didn’t stop us from having a bit of fun.

The bus was open!

Schäfer drove and sang 10,973 verses of “The Wheels on the Bus”.

We can’t forget Woodstock.

I realize there are a lot of photos of Schäfer. At this point in the morning, Sianna was asleep on me in the Ergo.

Eventually, we were wet and cold, so we headed in to the mall for a milkshake at Triple O’s. (That morning, we told Hubs we would meet him at the playground or Triple O’s.)

To our surprise, lots of people had appointments at the China Visa Office. It took Hubs 1.5 hours to turn in our passports. Now, we just have to wait a couple of days for our visa’s. In the meanwhile, Hubs enjoyed a hamburger at Triple O’s.

The thing I’ve learned about traveling with wee ones is that they can’t really skip naps for very long. Ultimately, the kids become fussy, but it’s the adults that seem to “pay” for it. On this rainy afternoon, we decided the best thing to do was go back to our room and let the kids take a nap. Once in the room, Schäfer was so stimulated from the noise of cars on the expressway that I had to rub his back until he fell asleep.

That evening, some friends introduced us to an Indian restaurant. While we were talking, Schäfer gulped down this entire strawberry lassie. It ended up being a little too much lassie a little too fast. Thankfully, our friends have small kids so they know how it goes sometimes.

This was some of the best Indian food I’ve had in such a long time. Do you know who loved it? Sianna! She ate so much! My baby food must be too bland for her.

Schäfer’s favorite part of the day was using Lightening McQueen shampoo.

That Snoopy park looks so cool! Joshua (my almost 3yr old) would love it! You are getting great at this two kid on your own thing…don't let it discourage you on the rough days. We all have them…and you're in a lot more transition which makes it even harder. Well done!

You've got me wishing we didn't have stable visas so that we could go to HK every now and then. :) I would love to take the boys back to Disney. We've never found this playground. I'll have to look for it next time. Your kiddos are getting so big!
