I got out of bed delighted that it was Friday. I knew this because my Ironman watch told me so.
Hubs reminded me that it was Good Friday.
I immediately thought of Annelies and wondered if she was taking the day off from work which is her Good Friday tradition. It’s funny what brings people to mind.
Since all of our belongings are still in boxes, I’ve been in a lifestyle that’s “off calendar”. When one lives off calendar they kind of float from day to day not really knowing if it’s Monday or Thursday.
This is not my preferred mode of living, but it is (honestly) a natural tendency that I have to reign in.

We enjoyed blueberry pancakes for breakfast because we were out of water for our daily oatmeal.
Hubs asked the water man to deliver two bottles. Yet, even with a two bottle system, we still forget to order more water.
I took Schafer to school so Hubs could stay home and get work done. On my way home I stopped by the market and bought eggs for dying and supplies for cabbage stew. Once home I tackled the dishes, clothes, making beds… does it ever end?
While Schäfer was in preschool, Sianna worked on her tummy time.

I created a play space filled with tempting toys. She scooted backwards (her only direction) and went for the red plane.

But there are other toys she wants. Sianna then kicks her legs and does an impressive breast stroke, but moves nowhere.

She goes for what’s within reach: The stacking cups.

Eventually, she’s done with the cups and she wants to dog. Oh, it’s quite a stretch, but she can do it!

And now she’s up! She scoots herself back and forth for about 5 seconds before…

plopping back down again. Hubs says we need to get her on some carpet so she can get some traction. We both think she’ll start crawling this summer when she’s in onesies and her knees don’t slide all over the floor.
And before I know it, the time has come to get Schäfer from preschool. He ended his first week of preschool with a bite.
This afternoon was nap perfection:
Sianna 12:30 – 3:30
Schafer: 1 – 3

Today, I decided it was time for a little trim.

Since our hair cutting scissors are in a box somewhere, we decided to go to the local hair salon and ask if we could borrow some scissors. Schäfer watched a Bollywood soap opera while Hubs started the trim.
Well, the scissors weren’t working too well. Schäfer wasn’t exactly still. Plus, he was annoyed when the haircut interrupted his view of the Bollywood soap opera. Hubs made the final decision: it was time for clippers.

The clippers weren’t charged so Hubs cut Schäfer’s hair on the porch.

Since it took so long to buzz his long locks, we promised Schäfer two gummie treats from the store.

Now, hopefully, the neighborhood will stop asking how old my “daughter” is.
“She’s 10 months.”
“No. Your older daughter! How old is she?”
“Oh! My son is three!”
I promise that I took these photos on the same day! What a difference a haircut can make.
This evening, I encouraged Hubs to go for a bike ride with one of the clubs tomorrow. “I might just. I’m not afraid anymore than you’ll pack up your bags and head back to Yichang.” Oh, I’ve got you convinced huh?
During quiet moments of the day, I reflected on how much change there is in a move… how much energy it takes to start over. I missed dying eggs with our old friends. I lingered a little too long thinking of them… wishing for days that will not be.
We’re going into a very simple Easter weekend. That will be different for us.

Oh Lawd! he looks like Shorel with the new hair cut.nanamaw
Schafer looks so handsome! I love the new cut. Sianna is doing great and making great progress in her tummy time. Did you know that Apple never crawled until well after she learned to walk? But she developed a “slap scoot” to get around the house on our tile floors. She sat on the ground with one leg bent in front and one leg bent behind and would slap her hands in front of her and pull herself forward. She could get around pretty fast! Maybe Sianna would be a slap scooter too.
S’s haircut looks so cute! Can’t believe how he’s growing!
Miss you.
Love the new do! I like a close cut for a boy with clippers. You should invest in some. Sianna is gona be crawlin before you know it! I loved this post, probably one of my favorites!
