Happy Resurrection Day 2010

04.04.10

Easter slipped upon this year. Thankfully, when we were packing for the move, we numbered each box and kept an excel spreadsheet of the contents. Therefore, when I asked Hubs at 11pm the night before Easter, “Hey, do you know where the Easter books and baskets are?” And with the click of a few buttons, Hubs replied, “Box 23.”

At 11:15pm the night before Easter, we realized that we didn’t have any vinegar. Thus, Easter would begin with a trip to the grocery store.

I was so delighted to stumble across “Swan Filled Mallow” on the bottom shelf. These are as close to Peeps as we get.

Schäfer loved “reading” his two “new” books.

He asked Hubs to read them to him over and over again.

“Read it again Papa!”

After a delicious lunch of homemade chicken pot pie (Hubs request), we opened a package of Swan Filled Mallow. Hubs prefers China’s Swan Filled Mallow to the American Peeps because there’s no raw sugar on the outside. I think they are both peep-o-licious.

This afternoon, Schäfer tried to measure himself.

I’d say he’s grown.

We didn’t have any Easter egg dying kits so we used food coloring. It takes a lot of dye to make a small batch of color. Orange alone needs 17 drops of yellow + 3 drops of red.

Sianna’s first egg dying!

Schäfer did so great dying all the eggs. He especially enjoyed transporting his eggs from bowl to bowl.

Sianna watched in fascination.

Schäfer colored the red egg on the left.

Hubs made this “S” egg with all of our names on it.

Then, Hubs went to a nice neighborhood (across the main road from our neighborhood) that has beautiful grass. Schäfer hunted for 17 eggs while a group of people watched.

Unfortunately, my SLR camera ran out of battery. I was disappointed not to get more photos of the egg hunt. I used our small camera for video.

Sianna wasn’t too sure about the grass.

Happy Easter 2010!
