The Dawning of the Clone

Schäfer threw up three times last night.

Thus began a long day of poop and vomit.

By 5pm, I had convinced Schäfer to go outside and get some fresh air. Since nap time, he’s been making frequent trips to the bathroom wanting to throw up, but nothing came.

Hubs is also sick.

At Hubs request, I’ve tossed all the Easter eggs. They are the only food that Schäfer and Hubs ate, but Sianna and I did not eat.

Since Schäfer seemed to be OK, I thought we should get out of the house and enjoy the weather. On our way out the door, Hubs returned home so we mingled around the doorway catching up.

And then it came. Schäfer needed to throw up.

And he did.

Everywhere.

Good thing we bought the paint that wipes off easily.

Bless his heart. He threw up all over his playhouse.

Hubs worked on getting Schäfer out of his dirty clothes while I started disinfecting.

Once everything was taken care of, I took the kids out for some fresh air and Hubs took the trash and playhouse (large cardboard box) to the curb.

While we were outside, Schäfer threw up the itty bit of water he drank so we came inside.

Hubs and Schäfer both skipped supper.

As I was getting Schäfer tucked in for the night, he wanted Raffe. I thought it was strange that I hadn’t seen Raffe for quite some time. I encouraged Schäfer to snuggle with Yertle the Turtle. As if.

Raffe was MIA.

After scouring the entire house, it dawned on me that RAFFE COULD HAVE BEEN IN THE PLAYHOUSE. I didn’t check to see if anything was inside because there was vomit on the box so I didn’t want to lift it up and have the puke run everywhere.

Oh my word.

I interrupted Hubs in the shower.

“Do you know where The Clone is packed? At the old apartment, I hid the clone in the back of your clothing shelf.”

“Yeah. I think so.”

Hubs appeared with The Raffe Clone.

When Hubs handed him to Schäfer, Schäfer said, “Oh! I need to snuggle with Raffe.” and he curled himself into a ball drawing Raffe close to him.

Hubs declared that if we are truly down to one Raffe then he would try to find a clone on eBay.

I’m hoping that we didn’t just toss Raffe to the curb.

I’m hoping that in tomorrow morning’s bright sunlight, Raffe will appear.

Update:

Raffe appeared! He was in a pocket in Sianna’s pack-n-play. Schäfer must have put him there when he climbed into the pack-n-play while I was changing Sianna’s nappy.

I’m relieved to know that I didn’t just toss Raffe out with an old cardboard box.

I’m relieved to know that we don’t have to purchase Raffe #4 because there’s NOT one on ebay or amazon.

The local cardboard recyclers are relived that this foreign woman will stop lurking around their speed carts anxiously looking for something fuzzy with yellow and orange spots.
