Mother’s Day 2010

Giving thanks for these precious two.

We had a full house this morning with many friend’s over for Sunday brunch and fellowship. The only thing I wanted for Mother’s Day was to take some photos of me with the kids (I’m usually the one taking photos) and to eat out for supper.

It wasn’t the cooking that I wanted to avoid, but rather the mounds of dirty dishes afterward. So we headed out late afternoon and took these photos in our neighborhood. Then, we went to the neighborhood Japanese restaurant for sushi and udon noodles.

My energetic son. Schäfer is 3 years and 4 months old. He loves trains, trucks: cement mixers, dump trucks, bulldozers, loaders, etc. All forms of transportation fascinate him.  He is extroverted. If he sees a kid at the playground, he’ll walk up and just start playing with him.

One evening, I sang, “This is the day. This is the day that the Lord has made…” etc. Then Schäfer sang, “This is the night. This is the night that the Lord has made…” He’s so creative and funny.

He has always loved to wear hats – even in his sleep.

My precious daughter. Sianna is 11.5 months old. She is one of the most incredible people I’ve ever met. She’s a fighter and yet so tender. She loves to be touched, held, and snuggled with. She laughs easily and enjoys being at home. At this point, she still prefers to only be held by Mommy and Papa.

She loves snack time, bath time, milk time, play time, music time… so long as she is held. She falls to sleep easily in the rocker and transitions to her bed with no problems. During rest time, she likes having soft blankets near plus Bunny tucked under an arm. No matter what time she goes to bed, she begins her day at 6am.

She has yet to crawl, but I’d say she’s getting ready!

I don’t know if I’ve ever been so exhausted and so happy in all my life.

This post is so cool!!! Schafer reminds me of the little boy who told his dad he didn’t want a Kindle, that he liked holding something to read that didn’t require batteries. I think he got stuck with the herb garden, it made a big impression on him. nanamaw

SO sweet. I love all of these photos of your two precious little ones. I cannot believe how big Schäfer is or how lovely Sianna is becoming. You are absolutely glowing with the joy of Mommyhood – I am so proud of the time and effort you have put into putting their needs above your own and especially into loving and comforting Sianna through this time of transition and adjustment. Miss you all SO much and we lift you up often!
