Children’s Day School Performance

Happy Children’s Day! This morning, we celebrated with breakfast at the local dive. Schäfer was so excited about his performance. They have been practicing at school for quite some time.

A little stage make-up should enhance his performance.

Hmmm… that’s different.

Next, the hair stylist had her way with his locks.

Thank goodness Hubs is not here.

Fits right in with his class.

The teachers decided to put hot pink tinsel in Schäfer hair. All of his classmates had gold tinsel, but the teachers were afraid the gold would not show up enough in Schäfer’s hair.

Festive!

Before the performance, Schäfer worked on his ping pong skills.

Meanwhile, Hubs entertained Sianna in the cafeteria where all the students were performing. We didn’t realize we’d have to wait for an hour and a half just to see Schäfer’s class.

I spy her next tooth coming right on through. Thankfully, this one doesn’t seem to be causing as much drama as the first two.

And then it was time for the main evening. All the kids are wearing t-shirts which say “I ♥ baba mama” but mostly it looks like “I ♥ baba”. The first time Hubs saw the shirt he thought it read, “I ♥ Obama”.

Schäfer class sat and performed a song. I thought the sitting was a wise choice on the part of the teachers.

I’m lovin’ all those proud Mama’s catching some home video. Don’t you know I’m right there with them!

My child rocks an 80′s look.

After the performance, Schäfer wanted to stay and watch the other kids. Hubs and I had more than enough, but we hung in there until the fashion show began.

Sianna and Hubs chased Schäfer in the school yard.

On the way out of the gate, the school gave Schäfer a little blue camera and a sack of snacks: sweet yogurt drink, an apple, a chicken leg and a bag of crispy french fries. Schäfer said he got these treats because he worked so hard at his performance.

Meanwhile, he has not stopped taking photos of us. “Mommy, smile!” Wonder who he gets that from?
