This is a HaiBao (A.k.a. Chinese Gumby, Wave man, blue sponge bob, etc):

Since they are the official mascot of the World Expo, HaiBao’s are everywhere in China: on milk boxes, billboards, etc.
When HaiBao The Musical came to town, a couple of other Mom’s in the neighborhood and I agreed to go. Our neighborhood had several free tickets available to families who bought a certain style of apartment. We couldn’t get any free tickets because we’re just renters, but thankfully neighbors gave us 4 free tickets! They said they couldn’t use them because they had to work or they didn’t have any kids. We were really touched by their generosity. Hubs couldn’t go to the musical so we shared two tickets with Yuan Yuan and her Mom. Then, Yuan Yuan’s 5th floor neighbor also found tickets so we were all able to ride together in their car.

Schäfer’s classmate also attended the musical. It was so neat to see several families from our neighborhood. One of them came over and asked if we took the bus. They offered us a ride home in their car. I was really touched by their generosity.

Schäfer was not happy when Sianna touched his arm rest.

Eventually, he got over it and was all ready for the show to start.

We didn’t know what to expect. I assumed a big blue HaiBao would be jumping around on stage to really loud music (maybe with bungee’s attached, pounding on huge drums…kindof like a one “gumby” Blue Man performance…), but instead there was an actual musical with actors and a set. The musical was about a HaiBao who was separated from his Mom by a villain. The villain was a clown with two puppets. I was so thankful Hubs was not with us. (Hubs: I’m not overly fond of clowns.)
