Nanamaw’s Banana Pudding

Banana Pudding
In our world of blogs, tweets, e-mails and Skype, doesn’t the written word seem precious? I came across this hand written recipe from my Mom quite some time ago. In our family, the Nanamaw is known for making the best banana pudding.

1 cup sugar
1/3 cup flour
2 eggs
2 cups milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 tablespoons butter or margarine (I sometimes skip this)

1. Combine sugar, flour, eggs and milk before adding the heat. (Nanamaw recommends a double boiler. We found a wok works just fine.)

2. Add heat and STIR. When the pudding thickens add vanilla and butter. Keep stirring until it reaches that perfectly thick pudding consistency.

3. Take off heat. Makes 2 1/2 -3 cups.

4. Layer with wafers and bananas.
