Hubs and I had a “date” today so we went “shopping” at Watsons pharmacy and Walmart.

Neither store is quite like you think, but we found a few nice things like Andes Mints and Toblerone chocolates for Schäfer’s teachers. We found some bathtub toys and a squeaky ball for Selah at Walmart.

These are not the gifts I want to give Selah, but they are the gifts that I was able to find.

If we lived in America, she would have a much different Christmas.

But we don’t.

So she doesn’t.

And I know Christmas isn’t about gifts, but it is nice to give your child a toy that is certified lead free.

feel a bit anxious about everything we still have to get done… the wrapping! the hosting! the cooking! the delivering! (neighborhood gifts – not babies), but Hubs isn’t worried or stressed in the least. I don’t know how he does it – taking everything in stride.

I only snapped one photo today since all the camera batteries were charging.

Oh, while I am not in the same situation as you, I do understand not having the “right” gifts for your one-year-old! Ruby eats everything in sight and it is difficult to find toys that will be fun and safe, that I want to give her! And in proportion to the gifts I know Abby is getting/has received, Ruby seems to hardly get any, plus, Ruby’s first birthday was in the mix and we were actually flying home ON her first birthday, so I had a lot of guilt!

I keep reminding myself that she is a baby, and doesn’t care about anything but being near us, and that at this early age, these celebrations are really for us, the adults. But it doesn’t completely help me feel better. I feel your pain! I wish I could do something for you and little Selah. We are keeping you in our prayers!

    God bless your family!
    Beth
