The Ladies in the Bathroom

I’ve lived in China for 10 years and the one thing I’ve yet to understand is the difference in style. Not good. Not bad. Just different.

Here’s an example:

Our hall bathroom is decorated with Pleasant Goat tiles all over the wall. I sort of get that… for the kids.

But then there’s the window shade…

Introducing: the ladies in the bathroom.

Always lounging away on a summer’s day.

Why? Who would take a pleasant goat decorated bathroom and adorn it with a window screen of 90′s bikini clad women?

It probably had to do with cost. Surely. Maybe there was a sale going on and the husband thought, “I’ll get this one. It’s 20 cents cheaper than any of the others.” Or maybe it was the interior decorator who bought it to shave costs?

Whatever the reason, it was time to oust the ladies.

Somehow, I think this print is much more fitting for a children’s bathroom.
