T’was the Night Before Potty Training Round 2

Tonight at dinner, Sianna said that she wanted to go on the potty. We’ve been talking about it for a while, but she hasn’t shown any interest.

I had pretty much given up on potty training Sianna. In my mind, I decided that I would just wait and potty train the girls at the same time, but tonight Sianna said she was ready so we are moving forward in this adventure.

So now it’s midnight and I’m reading Potty Train in Three Days+ watching some Downton Abbey. Anybody else?

Tomorrow morning, we’re throwing a party. Sianna will hand her cloth diapers to her baby sister and put on some big girl Tinkerbell undies.

She seems excited.

I’m on the fence. Either this is going to work beautifully or it’s going to flop quickly.

Here we go.

HI there. I shared your link with lots of friends in the co. Hope that is ok!

Apparently Macy and Sianna really are on the same schedule…Macy just decided last week she was ready to be potty-trained. Will be thinking about you today!

Congratulations! Will be thinking of you!

Liana has been diaper free for almost two weeks. I have to admit, I waited one week before starting night time training — because of the weather. It’s been a really cool and rainy spring and the only long sleeved jammies I had for her were snap downs. Since she usually ends up with covers off during the night anyway, I just didn’t think it was quite warm enough to try other jammies, and I didn’t want to deal with the snaps and getting feet out during the middle of the night to go on the toilet. She’s now done one week of night time training, and we’ve just about got it.

I know it’s busy times for you!

Obviously, you have done this before with Schafer. But, I would just like to remind that every kid is different. ๐Ÿ™‚ We attempted our own version of 3-day potty training and failed miserably (just didn’t have 3 whole days where we were both home, nor did we want to lock ourselves indoors that long!).

Abby was semi-defiant and semi-open to the potty. She knew exactly what to do and how, and was capable of it all, but sometimes just refused. We spent a goods year practicing, and about 6 months in pull-ups. And, once we had peeing in the potty down, she was stubborn about pooping in it.

At first we got mad and didn’t handle it very well, but, thanks to helpful and caring daycare providers, learned patience and calm, loving words worked best. We tried a sticker chart, but she kind if got bored with that after a few days. We tried M&Ms, but she didn’t always care. One thing that helped was that Abby saw other kids at daycare using the potty, and eventually she just decided on her own that it was time. Thankfully, about a month before she turned 3, she potty trained herself.

Patience. Let it be your mantra. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Keeping you and sianna in mind…nanamaw

So, I’m anxious to hear how you and Sianna are doing in the potty training realm! Post an update when you have a break from rushing her to the potty quickly! ๐Ÿ™‚ Miss you guys.

As I was pushing “Post Comment” on my previous comment, my little guy who is potty trained just peed all over the floor on purpose, laughed, and said, “That’s funny Mommy!”

  • They didn’t have “Potty Train in Three Days” back when I was a young mother but I just had this feeling that they wouldn’t go off to school in diapers! And they didn’t!!

Loved “Downton Abbey”! Can’t wait till Season 3 in January!!
