Big News & little news

Well, we have some Big News and lots of little news.

The Big News is that we’re moving to the southwest.

Hubs and I are quite settled and we weren’t looking for a move, but in January we met some people who introduced us to some people…

I was looking forward to 2012 as a steady year. The apartment we currently live in has excellent plumbing. We’ve literally lived an entire year without any type of repair man drilling into tile.

Schäfer loves his preschool and was looking forward to moving into kindergarten with his teachers and classmates. (At his school, they stay in the same group with the same teachers since three-year-play school.) And I was looking forward to all the crook neck squash and bradley tomatoes our garden is producing.

Another year. Another move.

2010 we moved cities.
2011 we moved within the same city.
2012 we’re moving cross country.

So in addition to hosting the American students, we’ve stated giving away furniture and sorting, sorting, sorting.

Other little news…

Sianna has added syllables to her and Selah’s names. We now have:
Sianna – na na & Selah – le le

Selah has started holding hands with Sianna or Schäfer when she walks. It’s very sweet.

We are eating so much fruit right now. I have apple slices, lychee, watermelon and pineapple in the refrigerator. Selah gobbles it up then I have to give her a splash bath in the sink. She’s a sticky one.

The weather is hot and the humidity is thick. I’m running two air-conditioners in the house. The kids are officially at two-a-day showers.

Sianna is in full princess mode. She can hardly take her brother to preschool then walk to the vegetable market without starting to whine about the heat. Yesterday, I had to carry Selah and push Sianna with one hand in the stroller just to get her home.

Schäfer received a rubber snake as a gift. It doesn’t freak me out. I know it’s rubber, but I’d rather not have it in the house. There’s just something strange about seeing Selah walk down the hall with a rubber snake in her mouth.

  • Sandra you are moving AGAIN! How do you do it woman! Ok so I got David to let me hold the sippy (it’s so close to being a bottle..the rim is not like a zippy cup…it’s a straw without the straw going down so it has to be tipped back like a bottle). He’s letting me hold it “bottle style” after each nap and after waking up in the morning. I can rock him about 10 minutes and then he goes crazy to get up. THanks so much for the tips! He’s doing pretty well…lots of communication problems but he’s two and just changed languages. Sign language has been a HUGE help!

    • You are doing great. Be intentional to keep rocking him after waking in the morning and nap time. It will become part of his routine and he will come to expect the closeness. You are at the beginning of a marathon. Pace yourself. There are many hills ahead.

Well, it happened. I’d love to hear where you’re ending up. So sorry that you’ll be packing and cleaning and packing some more. I say you let these students of yours that a good way to serve to to clean, pack, babysit, and label boxes. Just a thought :)

  • Moving again!!! Oh my–thinking of you in the process!!!

  • Sarah
