Chinese Preschool Health Checks

I’ve spent most of the past 2 weeks scouting a local preschool for Schäfer and Sianna. This year, Schäfer will be in Da Ban and Sianna will be in Xiao Ban. (The 5-year-old and 3-year-old class, respectively.)

It has been very difficult to even find a preschool that would entertain the idea of having foreign students. Most of them are already maxed out with local kids. Strangely enough, most of the preschools were interested in Selah attending since she would be in the almost 2-year-old class. Huh? No thanks.

Hubs and I finally decided to send our kids to San You. Unlike other preschools we have attended, they go by the book and insisted that our kids partake in the official school health check. Thank goodness the hospital was within walking distance of our house.

Sianna loved having her health checked. I thought she might be scared, but she seemed to enjoy it.

Yep. He has all his teeth.

I’ve always wondered how they did an eye exam on children who can’t yet read.

Schäfer tired to help Sianna during her eye exam.

Eventually, she got the hang of it.

Schäfer was a pro.

Dare I say he had a good time during the eye exam?

The next day, after naps, the kids and I rode the bus 1 hour to San You Preschool. I hauled all my littles across town to hand in these health checks only to be told to bring them back later.

I cannot express how much I miss our little Xin Hu preschool back in Jiangxi.
So laid back.
So easy.
So familiar with us.
