November Wrap-Up :: Merry Memories

11.26.12

Sometimes I forget how different our life is until moments like this… the joy of seeing real, authentic Candy canes in 3 flavors: mint, spearmint, and sweet, colored candy in the small store just around from our apartment.

2012-11-26@16-50-24
What a pleasure it was telling the kids to pick out whatever they wanted (maximum six each).

2012-11-26@16-51-44
Happiness is… candy canes!

2012-11-26@16-53-00
At this point, we had a crowd of about 50 people watching the foreign kids purchase candy canes. Then came the blessing of answering 1,485 questions about why we were buying candy canes.

In the states, I probably would have driven to Target, grabbed a box, and not thought too much more about it.

2012-11-26@17-01-02
Schäfer placed his candy canes high on the tree to prevent little hands from nabbing them.

2012-11-26@17-08-59
Hubs helped Selah put her candy canes on the tree.

2012-11-26@17-09-13
While Selah was near the top of the tree, she grabbed Schäfer’s 1st Christmas ornament from 2007. She’s a fast one.

2012-11-26@17-12-07
Sianna loved being lifted to the top of the tree to place her candy canes.

2012-11-26@18-15-28
Nothing like reading a book while the one-year-old is entertained by her Papa.

11.28.11
2012-11-28@09-28-46
Selah plays with the musical instruments while I clean.

2012-11-28@18-18-17
On Wednesday nights, we like to play games with the kids. Hubs and I rotate who gets to play games with the big kids and who gets to…

2012-11-28@18-25-02
watch Selah play in the tub. Both are equally fun.

11.29.12
2012-11-29@08-45-49
8:45am
Selah loves to talk to her pictures as she is coloring them.

2012-11-29@12-29-26
12:30pm
Selah is coloring once again.

2012-11-29@12-30-43
I love that she changed her coat. Yes, Selah is wearing a shirt, a fleece and a coat… inside. It’s been chilly.

2012-11-29@12-32-38
She’s still talking to her pictures.

2012-11-29@17-11-47
After snack time (OK more like 5:15pm), I got the paints out so the kids could paint the numbers 1-25 that I needed to use for our advent countdown. If you ever wonder why we eat supper at 7pm, this is why. I simply forget to look at my watch before starting craft projects.

2012-11-29@17-12-40
I gave Schäfer the color red because I only had a little bit left. He did a great job making sure none was wasted.

2012-11-29@17-15-19
It didn’t take Selah long to start finger painting.

2012-11-29@17-17-12
Selah also enjoyed a good bit of table painting. Meanwhile, Sianna managed to paint in straight lines.

2012-11-29@17-17-47
Happiness is my one-year-old with paint!

11.30.12
2012-11-30@10-29-32
Today, I gathered all 25 Christmas books for our advent countdown. Selah gave them kisses.

2012-11-30@17-27-10
Sianna read “Brown Bear, Brown Bear” to Selah while I started supper.

2012-11-30@17-28-07
Meanwhile, Schäfer read the names of lizards, snakes, and sharks.

2012-11-30@17-35-57
Then, the girls had some independent “reading”.

2012-11-30@18-31-41
This evening, before bed, the kids begged to read a Christmas book. I agreed and let them read Mr. Willoughby’s Christmas Tree which was a new one for this year.

December starts tomorrow.
