For the entire month of December, we’ve been painstakingly researching the perfect cup of hot chocolate. It was a delicious adventure.
We finally found a recipe that works for us. Not too sweet. Not too chocolaty. With a lingering a hint of fresh milk.
Combine:
2 tablespoons cocoa
3 tablespoons sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt

Shorel loves eggnog. Every year we make a couple of batches of our own nog between Thanksgiving and Christmas. We like this eggnog recipe because the eggs are cooked not raw.
INGREDIENTS
4 cups milk
5 whole cloves
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

2/3 cup instant coffee granules
1 cup powdered non-dairy creamer
1 cup powdered chocolate drink mix
1/2 cup white sugar
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Toss into a crock-pot:
2 quarts water (8 cups)
8 bags black tea (or 8 tablespoons loose leaf)
3/4 cup sugar
16 whole cloves (丁香 ding xiang)
16 whole cardamom seeds ( 豆蔻 dòu kòu) with pods removed (optional, but we recommend it)
5 cinnamon sticks (肉桂 ròu guì)
8 skinny slices fresh ginger

Indian Chai
In India, “Chai” literally means “tea.” Indian Chai is a fragrant, sweet and milky mixture that tastes great.
COMBINE:
1 cup water
1 cup milk
1 tablespoon black tea
1 teaspoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
