The Birthday Party

On Saturday morning, I took all three kids to Nanchang by myself.

The hardest part of the trip was managing Sianna because she’s at that age where she wants to walk until she wants me to carry her.

When dealing with stairs in 2 train stations + taxis, there’s no way that taking a stroller would be convenient.

But there was a birthday party to attend so I had to make it work.

We got to the train station in plenty of time, but I forgot it was Mid-Autum Festival weekend. All of the tickets for the 9:40am train were sold out.

No economy tickets.
No first class tickets.
No standing tickets.
No tickets.

Hubs got tickets for the 10:48am train, but the party started at 11am so I said, “We should probably just stay home.”

Oh the tears that were produced!

Hubs encouraged me to go – even if we were late. Getting the kids on the train wasn’t a big deal. They were happy and excited. The day had just begun.

Schäfer chilled with Thomas.

Sianna watched some Little People and then played with Selah.

In the taxi on the way to the party, Schäfer changed into his pirate outfit… because he’s awesome. We got there about 1pm. The kids immediately started munching on mini hot dogs and burgers.

Sianna ate slowly and tried to take it all in.

The birthday girl herself.

Schäfer was looking forward to birthday cake for almost a week!

Sianna licked the icing and left the cake.

Round 3: ice cream! Schäfer loves birthday parties!

The birthday girl spent some time with Selah and PJ.

When the microphone was offered, Sianna sang!

This is the only shot I got of Selah and PJ. She completely crawled over him on her way to play.

The day was spent playing and creating wholesome meals from plastic food. (Organic certified, I’m sure.)

My kids were tired when we boarded the 6:48pm train.

Today was a good day.
